Pentax Prime Lens sub £300

Looking for a budget prime to get me going on my Pentax K5. 35mm or 50mm is ideal and £300 is the budget!

Been looking at:

Pentax SMC 50mm f1.4 FA Lens

and the 35mm f2.4

Any other options for around £300 new or used worth considering?

I have the 50 1.4 and it is very sharp, gorgeous colour/ contrast but you have to keep an eye on DOF, which can be very small

How about a pancake? ;)

I used to have the Sigma on my D60 and loved it... apart from the coated finish that started to chip off! I know you can get a newer smooth finish version, but not seen it for pentax as of yet!

Ideally want something for indoors and low light, so guessing the 50mm or siggy are probably the best bet!
 
Too many too choose from! Its between all the ones posted and the 50mm f1.4 :-S
 
"Indoors and low light" - you may well find that the 50mm is a bit too long for this on a cropped sensor, I used to own the 40mm F2.8 pancake which I also found slightly too long - I now have the FA 35mm F2 which I find a much more useful focal length for a range of situations, you can't go wrong with any of the suggestions but I'd recommend the DA 35mm F2.4, a little plasticky but still well screwed together and easily falls within your budget

Looked in to the 35mm f2 as the added few stops might be handy, but it seems pretty rare!

Yes, they don't appear too often - I bought mine from a fellow forum member on the forum dedicated to pentax owners in the UK (not sure if posting the link breaks the rules so maybe PM me if you want it)

I've also owned the DA 35mm F2.4 and to be honest the difference in IQ between the two is very subtle, it's mainly the build quality and DOF scale I like about the FA
