Hi

Very taken with the size and look of the Pentax Q and would like a small camera as a back up when my D90 is to big to lug around.

Had a quick play in a local shop - build quality seems excellent but a little concerned by the very small sensor.

Just wondered if any owners on here could give some feedback on picture quality in particular as it gets very mixed reviews on the internet.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Alan - much appreciated

Love that first photograph....

Hi

Well, encouraged by Alans photographs I have taken the plunge today.

My local London Camera Exchange had the twin lens kit on sale at the bargain price of £299

Couldnt walk away at that price....

(I posted this in another thread before seeing this thread..)

Got one Saturday morning after seeing prices drop during November specials here in Australia for AUD$299 (they're back up now)
Still familiarising myself with it.
First impressions;

TINY!! I mean really tiny!
Solid.. Build like a tank. That popup flash is not as flimsy as one might expect either.
Fits in a shirt pocket, trouser pocket, shorts pocket, jacket pocket (with 01 standard prime)
Photos so far;
I'd seen a lot of samples on line so they are as I was expecting. Good.
Low light performance is so far very good, but I need more time with this.

Video mode;
Full HD (1080p) sucks big time, terrible quality - my Galaxy S2 is far superior. But HD (720p) is fine.
Again, need more time because full manual control is available for video mode, so there might be ways to improve FullHD quality. (Not that I bought the Q for video)

Handling;
Not as fiddly as one my imagine with such a tiny camera. Quite sensible layout.
The menu system is very similar to my Pentax K7, so no problems there.

That's it for now
