Pentax & Sigma Problem

i've got a problem where as one of my customers is having compatibility between the Pentax K110d and the new Sigma 150-500mm APO DG HSM lens.

pretty much i should get shot because i've been so so so bad at work today.

is there any known issues out there with older Pentax cameras with lenses with the HSM motors inside them? or am i being daft.

do pentax have a site with the firmware updates on? or how to check which version is on the camera?

HSM will not work on any Pentax body released before the K10D.
He will need a screw drive lens such as the 170-500mm/50-500mm (or upgrade the body)

There is lots of issues with all sigma lenses and all pentax cameras..Hit and a miss m8.

Rubbish, I have a K10D, Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 24-60mm f2.8, Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 and 50-500mm and all work perfectly well.

The simple fact is that the camera is too old, the lens is looking for electrical contacts which arent there.

cheers for the quick replies, don't think my boss is going to be happy having to refund that lens then. i checked the contacts out compared with the k-m and k20d and all are the same, just must not work the same way. i've now found a list which i'm going to print off at work tomorrow of which models won't work.. i'm just hoping the 170-500mm is in stock...

thank you ever so much, you're life safers, just sods law that the hundreds of times i've used my friends k100d with sigma lens i've just assumed the motorised ones would work, lesson learned don't assume anything.

Did you look inside the front of the camera for the 2 electrical SDM/HSM contacts?

oh, as soon as i read that i knew that i actually looked in the wrong place for them,.... shoot. i feel so embarrassed, i hope no-one asks me about pentax ever again i'm going to stick my head in the ground.

retail hates me.
