Hi. Just received a couple sheets of Black Perspex to lay items on for reflections, both arrived with the protective paper on both sides, removed one side, placed a flower head on it inside a large light Cube/Box, Images covered in dust particles, never seen anything pick up dust particles so fast!! Anyway if you use said perspex how do you clean it before use without leaving any smearing on it?
Thanks
Russ

When you first peel the coverings off it creates a significant static charge. I've used a dryer sheet and then clean normally w/ good quality window cleaner (or 50:50 vinegar/water mix).

I use Novus #1 polish to clean and bring the shine back

Thank you for the advice. Cannot beleive how quick this stuff picked up dust particles.

Personally, I switched to mirror polished stainless sheet... it picks up the color of the BG rather than being "fixed." It also does a much better "white reflection"... perhaps too much sometimes.

Perspex is a real dust magnet, even worse in a nylon light tent due to the static.
A sheet of glass and a can of black spray paint can provide a much better reflective surface, giving great reflections and picks up background colour really well too.

A bit long winded and fuelled more by enthusiasm than knowledge, I wrote a tutorial on how to do it for a group on Flickr a few years ago if you are interested.

Apologies if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs with this, but hopefully there will be something useful, even if it's how not to do it;)
