Phil the Juggler's 2026_52 - Week 20 - Geometry

Your snappers shot made me feel good Phil...your rituals shot...not so much, but it is a really good image...

Week 16 - Monument
Testing out my new RF35mm F1.4 L VCM Lens - impressively sharp but needs software correction to sort out barrel distortion - I think this lens on my R8 is going to be my go-everywhere kit.

Canon R8, 35mm f.1,4 L VCM, -2 EV, 0, +2 EV HDR blended in Photomatix and then tweaked in Lightroom.

I like that a lot. The OOF areas look really vintage to my eye. I like the way the Bluebells anchor it to spring... the circle of life and all that.

I like it. Not sure about the sky but I still like it.

Thanks! Yeah the sky had some 'interesting' artefacts - I cropped out the worst of them but I agree it's the weakest area of the shot.

Really like the framing and the focus on the cross against the background, the sky and the tree on the rhs not so much

Right - all caught up! I'll be commenting on some of the fellow 52-ers threads shortly!

Week 20 - Geometry
3-shot HDR on Canon R6II, 15-35mm f/2.8 @ f/2.8, 32mm, ISO 100. Background removed in Photoshop

That's really striking. The colours and shapes look great against the expanse of black.

That's very nicely done Phil. Love the colours, and the separation from the background makes it work very nicely.
Thanks both - works much better than the original background of foliage.

Great colours especially against the BG and interesting shape. Foiliage removed so assume it is outside ( though only a little bit of rust at base), curious as to size and is it supposed to represent something.

Here is the unprocessed 0 EV shot:

I would guess it is about 4-5 feet tall. It was near St Nectan's Waterfall - sort of place with lots of wind chimes and crystals so I would imagine it is supposed to help meditation or something!

Very striking and vivid, so strong impact. For me, it feels too artificial, but that’s just my opinion.

I enhanced the colours a little as you can see - my guess is the colours have faded slightly in the sun so I restored it to what I thought it might have looked like when first created.

Certainly needed the background that you applied, the trees distract from the sculpture
