Hey guys i was wondering if i could have your opinion on something, im an amateur photographer and love taking pics and take alot of family and friends at request....i was wondering how to collate my pictures and thought of doing a blog, i didnt really want a website just yet as just getting started and thought a blog looked a bit nicer than my facebook?? here is the link

if you could tell me what your thoughts on blogs are and whether this is on the right tracks or if i should scrap it and start again??

Depends on what you want to do with your photography. If you just want a place to put your pics, use flickr. If you want somewhere to promote yourslef, then I think building a simple website using templates on something like moonfruit is a better option. Blogs are as much about the words as the pictures and wouldn't be my choice to display sets of pictures.

Some nice photos on there by the way. :)
 
Looks good to me, I recently did the same as my husband set me up a blog/website as part of my birthday present. Am using it to document some of my photography and it is a mixture of words and pictures.

You have some nice shots but personally I like to see a bit of an explanation about the content of the pictures - a brief description of where they were shot etc rather than just pictures.

I use Flickr to display my pictures and my website has a gallery on it to display my them.

I also have a Blogger account which is basically a carbon copy of my website http://sharoncurran.blogspot.com I just set that one up for more coverage, plus I enjoy reading a lot of the other blogs on there :)

Not trying to hijack your thread but It would be good to hear what people think to my site too.
 
Hey guys thanks for the input, the reason i didnt want a site straight away was because i wanted to hangfire until i start progressing to business! the reason i wanted to use a blog rather than flickr was i thought the blog would be a bit more personal and i can use each blog for different set of shots and finally i havent put much info on there as it was all done in one night lol i will be editing the blogs but dont really want to put too much text on there as i like the shots against the black. Sharon i love your site and blog, i cant believe ours blogs are nearly identical lol some great bigcat shots!! thanks again for all your input and advise made me think about a few things!! :D
