this may have been already asked but how do i retain high quality on a dvd slide show i think proshow gold compresses the images,,, on my monitor the photos are great on the 37in lch tv they appear very soft
is there any required setting i should be using
thanks dc:help:

Same here, I cant work it out. I know iDVD is meant to do a good job but I dont have a DVD burner in my Macbook so have to use iPhoto to make the slideshow and burn a CD using Toast but that can only do 800x600.

I have the same problem, and have never worked it out.

Maybe one of us should try the proshow support team. When I asked them about adding subtitles to DVDs they were quite good. (Note you can't add Subtitles - only they recommended doing 1 show with the photo numbers on, and one without - but it was better than nothing).

I use Proshow Producer, used Proshow Gold for a long while before. They both use the same renderer so the quality is the same, just more "Bells & Whistles" on Producer.

I watch my shows on a 42" plasma and the quality is amazing, never had a problem.

Have a wander over to http://www.proshowenthusiasts.com/ for all the info.

I used Proshow Gold and never had a problem when outputting to EXE however if adding to VCD or DVD there is an element of Compression which affect quality (inevitable). It is how you maximise the available quality that is the knack and I can only suggest you visit the user's forums.

Just did a 20 minute show in Pictures to exe and pleased with result even if I had to add sound via Garageband.

I thought it was just me, mine have come out a bit soft as well.

Thanks H.U.N - will check them out

H U N - will Picture to Exe do Subtitles? (sorry for the distraction from the main thread, but been looking for a video prog that would for a year).
Yes but a little annoying in how it does it. You need to use keyframes and plan the execution. If text size is an issue you may need to create the text in an external editor and use a "wipe" transition to make it look like the text is loading.

PM me if you want more info. (unless the OP does not mind me discussing a side issue on their thread?)

Ive used Photostory 3 & converted to dvd with very good results

In the output dialogue for PSG, uncheck the anti-flicker box, makes a noticeable improvement to quality.

I'd make sure that your photos are at the right resolution and pixel density for their TV. Its probably a 1080p HD monster.

HD Tv's typically have a resolution of 1920×1080 which on a big 37" monster just isn't going to give a lot of clarity. A print at 37" would be much nicer. Be aware that if you don't supply your images in a TV friendly size its going to be upscaled/downscaled by the internal hardware, which was never intended to give perfect flawless still image reproduction.
