Photo storage file structure

Bugler77 · 23 Oct 2012

Hi all just some advice I am after. I have my photos stored in folders by year then sub folders by subject/job. I use bridge CS6 for viewing and want to catalogue my photos better how does everyone catalogue theirs

Not sure I'd that made seance but I want to keyword all my photos and be able to search all folder for the selected keyword but bridge only seems to search the folder your in not all sub folders. Anyone know how I can so it or am I making a small error In how I am setting it up?

I use Media Pro. When I've finished editing a shot I select it and add it to my Media Pro catalogue.

I can backup just the catalogue, copy it to external drives, re-open individual files in a different application, make contact sheets, slideshows, whatever.

Lightroom...

Excuse me if I am wrong but is Lightroom not a slimmed down version of bridge with a few basic editing features thrown in? Like photoshop and photoshop express?

Can I not do what I want to do in bridge?

In Bridge goto - Edit/find and then enter the details of the file/files you're looking for..............it will search all folders (inc sub) if you ask it to.

OK, you're excused. Lightroom is a better-packaged version of ACR with all the features that ACR has. It's also got more features than Bridge and is easier to use.
