BBC's academy have released a great set of relatively beginner videos going through some of the basics of shooting video that are all too often put off by articles about the latest shiny toys.

Great, basic, but essential knowledge for anyone who wants to shoot video. Good stuff under the other categories on the right hand side too. Don't miss that there's several pages under each category, at the bottom of each list of videos there's a 'next page'.

There's everything from basic three point lighting, to more bizarre/specialist stuff like using industrial rope access to get a different perspective of shot!

Cheers, particularly found the interview videos interesting as I'm in the process of planning a documentary film myself. :)

I was really impressed by them, too much of the emphasis on many tutorial vids these days seems to be how to make pretty pictures, rather than concentrating on the actual process and content of telly/video!

Loads of cool stuff from the natural history unit too.

Good find Dave(y)- it's easy to forget just how extensive the BBC site is.

Will have a look over the weekend- interested to see what they say about the rope access stuff.

Just watched one of these and it's probably one of the best tutorial type videos for video making I've seen. Not one mention of gear! Good find

I like the Vimeo video school ones too. Pretty useful and quite lighthearted, and even funny for our American cousins
