I'm sorry to ask, I'm sure this has been asked a few times before but how do I get access to things like test days and minor events to practice motorsport?

I have friends that race in the BTCC so I have good inroads to paddocks and the like there, but I was wondering how the guys inside the fence get there? I understand that most have press credentials, but I live just a small jump from Donington Park and Mallory Park do you know if they allow amateurs in for testing?

i think you just request one. a friend of mine does occasional articles for a jap car mag, and he just asks places and gets them :]

Get yourself down to Mallory - one of the most accessible track I have ever been to - even on a race day!

to be trackside for a test day you will most likely need public liability insurance (which isnt cheap), but the best thing to do is contact the circuit that you want to attend and ask them for their specific requirements.

mines £40 and tbh worth it

For credentials you will need a publication to say that you are shooting for them, you will normally have to apply 2 weeks in advance of a event.

Hot tip 101
For test days its well worth talking to the teams testing and not the track.
