Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could help me as this is realted to photography(in a way).

I am currently rsearching into Photographic software or systems that my employer can use for a client we have. The client wants to be able to use the same features that Asda and Tescos have in the Photo Centre on their websites. Things like uplaoding a photo and seeing it on a mug, or creating a photobook online, that kind of thing.

I just need name of some companies that will do this? I have looked for hours and have not had much luck.

Apparantly Tescos use PNI Digital Media as their system but I need others.

It would be very much appreciated if anyone could help me.

Any reasonably skilled web designer can do that for you.
 
I am actually a web designer myself, but it is more of a system we need so that the user can upload photos and add them to merchandise such as canvas's, mugs etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Depending on exactly what you want I think the scope of these systems is beyond a web-designer and would encompass many of the disciplines associated with a typical software development project.

Have a look at http://www.cewe-photobook.co.uk/

This is their retail site but this German company is behind the (photo printing) software development of some reasonably high profile retailers. Check out the "about us" at the bottom of the page.

It might be cheaper to licence the technology with your own front end rather than develop it from scratch.

I have a friend who writes bespoke business software and also web site
if you want I can mail him let me know
 
Around 15 years ago, this would have come under the remit of the web-designers and programmers. Now, with most web designers just using programs such as MS Frontpage etc. and not understanding the lower levels, you will need to look for a software design company that specialises in flash or java. Most of the ROES systems are written in java, for the ability to use easily offline. I think that a lot of the online systems prefer flash, for a tighter integration back to the server.
Uploading an image, and projecting it onto a mug, is a basic image manipulation technique, I think it used to be used as an example in one of the java books.
