Photographing an illegible document

A friend (not in the UK) has to photograph a document where some of the writing has faded - is there any way to bring this out?

Possibly, it may not look nice but possibly.

Take a raw, load it into your processing package, select the faded text and then use the sliders for best effect.

Do they have access to an infrared camera, often used to pull out faded detail.

Worth tring UV lights as well (not UVC) as some ink will glow. I got detial from a 1980's till recipt just by snapping it normally and playing with levels. Some phones don't have an IR filter so if you have an R72 or other daylight blocking filter that might also work.

Try putting it on a lightbox, shining light from underneath can sometimes bring out deeper marks in the paper.
