Why do people always watch you're shooting.
How do you get that nervous feeling away ??
Sometimes i can't concentrate so many eyes on you .:bang::bang:
help please/

You just have to learn how to ignore people while projecting confidence. I know it's easy to say, but that's it really.

My trick, if I notice eyes on me, is to adjust my view to looking at a building, or above peoples' heads. That seems to put you out of their attention sphere for some reason.

That's a wonderful article..

Street photography is very unnerving, especially depending on the area you're in. Where I live we have a huge outdoor market on every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. So on Tuesday lunchtimes for the past 3 weeks, I've been going out and trying to take some pictures there.

I've yet to get close enough to really capture anything significant, but I'm noticing a distinct improvement from this weeks catch compared to the first time I went out there.

I agree and do this.

Look as if you know what you're doing at all times - even if you don't - people tend to assume you will...

take lots of dummy shots till the nerves drop a bit
hand out religious leaflets as you wait for the sun to come out...:D

sounds daft, but in the past I have worn a high visability jacket! Yes, it does draw a little more attention, but as with everyone in a high vis, people assume you must be working, therefore you know what your doing and that your doing it for a reason....

Also helps people not run you over if your not looking where your going with a camera glued to your head!

I now tend not to worry too much, particularly if I'm using a long lens although if i'm on the 50mm I do still use this little trick :)

I enjoy street photography or rather people photography but it takes me a few minutes to get into it and I am usually nervous the first few shots until I go into photography mode. However whilst I know my rights to photograph on the street if challenged I am wondering more and more what to actually do with the pictures. Apart from a few websites, any competitions or publications require the subjects permission before they will publish.

:)

I did the same when covering the Poll-Tax riots way back when and also the Anti-War protests in London more recently...

Made all the difference - didn't get corralled into a 'kettle'... cops allowed me in and out no probs...

Missed the latest ones as I was 'away somewhere'...
