I've comvinced one of the girls where I work to enter an internal corporate competition to model a new uniform thats coming out. Part of the entry is to send a couple of pics so she's asked me to take them for her.

We'll be doing it at work under loads of florescent lighting, will this cause any problems or is there any advice anyone can give to get the best out of them.

The comp is open to all shapes and sizes, my "model" is a plus size girl but very pretty so I'm hoping this will be a nice confidence booster for her so want to do the best i can.

Apart from what she wears are any particular angles more or less flattering to a fuller figure model?

cheers

ps...I only have the build in flash on my 500D but do have a gold/silver/white reflector if I'm likely to need it?

Your biggest problem is likely to be colour temperature. Fluorescent lighting is a preset on your white balance but once it mixes with daylight will need to be white balanced.

The easiest way to do it is to shoot a grey card at each location and pull the whole batch to the correct WB in lightroom afterwards.

The angles generally more flattering for a fuller figure are 3/4 profile and elevated angles so grab a stepladder.

flash off and use the white/silver side of the reflector

what colour are her eyes and how good is her skin (if blue and good then go silver to give a nice sparkly pop to the image)

If would be easier if you could turn off the flourescents and light the whole thing with flash. Fake it, just put a bunch of YN460-II flashes in the fake ceiling on radio triggers. :D

Failing that, find a BIG window with some nice soft lighting, still turn the flourescents off, and shoot her next to that for some nice big soft side light, with your reflector providing fill from the other side.

Have you got any flash gear? I'd be tempted you alter the WB to make the fluorescent light go a more interesting colour and then use gels to colour correct the lighting for your model.

#2 for the Big Window option and reflectors...
