First of all, you need to go out and take pictures, and take even more pictures, and keep on taking pictures. This is the KEY thing if you want to be a photographer.
Apprenticeships rarely exist any more, and where they do there's usually a million applicants.
What sort of photography do you like?
Find work or volunteer to be a photographers assistant and you will be nearly there.
Learn to be useful and friendly and helpful and assisting is one way to learn a lot (and sometimes even jobs if a photographer who you've worked with a lot can't do a job because of timings etc). Find ways to network with local photographers whose work you like (ideally not sending out a mass email... find what they do, how they meet people, what events they go to, and find a reason to meet them. Chatting to them over a beer at an exhibition opening is infinitely more successful than just sending out another piece of spam that's exactly the same as the other emails that they get every other day).
