Photography around Leeds

I've been in Leeds now for a year and a half but have only had my camera for a few months. I don't venture out nearly enough and this needs to change.

Does anybody have any recommended spots or places to visit around the Dales and nearby that are fairly easy to get to from Leeds using public transport and a bit of walking?

I've been to Ilkley a few times although not really beyond the town centre and the Cow&Calf rocks. Looking for landscape stuff over anything else.

Brimham Rocks is amazing but I'm not sure how easy it is to get to on public transport - Plumpton Rocks is the same landscape but on a smaller scale, and this is only just outside Harrogate so is easy to get to by bus + walking.

To the north of Harrogate is Nidd Vale which is quite picturesque - there's a viaduct, river etc and I've been on photo walks round there quite a few times :)

You could get a regular train to Skipton then take the steam train from Embsay to Bolton Abbey. Or when you get to Skipton, get a bus to Grassington or Gargrave and most points in between.

Alternatively try regular train to Keighley then take the Worth Valley train to well almost any stop on that line is worth it.

Then there is always train to Hudersfield then bus to Holmfirth (Last of Summer wine country)

Halifax to Todmorden is a nice route to stop off and take photos.

Where abouts in Leeds are you? Maybe we could hook up?

Not too bothered if it isn't public transport accessible, I will occasionally be going with people who have cars. And I'm in Woodhouse.

Thanks photopig and munch for your input.

Hmm, off the top of my head:

Bolton Abbey
Keighley (KWV Railway)
Brimham rocks
Cow and Calf
Skipton
York ain't a million miles away!
Kirkstall Abbey

Done Leeds really though and will inevitably do loads more of it even when walking between here and the train station.

Just want to know places a bit beyond my backyard really. Thanks for the suggestions creid, going to Kirkstall Abbey sometime next week. York I need to do again really, been there before but only really on an evening out and without the cam.
