Thanks Stewart - yes, I'd overlooked the bit about the payments being recurring, but going back to their website a year ago I didn't clock any reference to their cancellation policy (not sure if it was on their website back then, or if I just didn't find it). I suspect the fact that they subsequently put fuller terms on their site would cover them for membership renewals.
