I am self taught and I am looking to apply to a photography course. I already have music and art A LEVEL. Would you recommend I start at level 1 or level 2?

Well it says that Level 1 is foundation and level 2 is intermediate. All the colleges seem to do level 3 but no level 1 or 2

Yes, but what qualification? City & Guild? NVQ? Something else?

Without knowing what the syllabus covers, it's hard to advise. When I was doing city and guilds at level 2 and 3, I went and spoke to the college first to understand what the course was like.
Sometimes they won't let you onto a higher level course without you having completed the lower level one first, either there or elsewhere. That way, they know everyone is up to more or less the same standard. Or they may ask you for a portfolio of work so that they can try and gauge what level you are.

I do ABC courses (can't remember what it stands for) and have done for the past couple of years.

Generally Level2 is for people who want to learn about various styles of photography so over the course of a year you could do Studio, Portrait Sport etc etc.

Level 3 is more for the person who knows how there camera works and is fairly knowledgeable about photography. Here you concentrate on a Theme and develop it over the year to produce high quality prints for a year end show.

That's how it works round our way, but as viewfromthenorth point out you really are best either going to the college or phoning them up to ask
