He’s trying to suggest that the focal length along with the movement is changing the shot, but it’s simply that he’s moving.
The important difference is the distance not the focal length.
The lesson to use a focal length appropriately is lost in his bizarre presentation of the situation.
or to put it another way - you can’t zoom with your feet! Which is a drum I’ve been banging for years.
