Photography exhibitions in San Francisco?

I'm heading to San Francisco at the end of the month and was looking forward to seeing some of the famous American photographers work at the museum of modern art, but they've closed it for expansion building works.

Anyone know where else would be good to see photographers work?

Not really exhibitions but two places I'd recommend would be the Exploratorium science museum is an amazing interactive museum definite worth a visit if you like playing with stuff. And the Walt Disney museum was good and sometimes has guest exhibits.

Again, not photographic, but the California Academy of Science in Golden Gate Park is great.

Someones told me of somewhere in Oaklands - just need to find it, plus apparently theres some exhibitions around pier 24.
I might just end up in the museums which look great, if I can keep my wife out of bloomindales
