Am up in EK for the week and am looking for some inspiration on where to go with my camera.

Needs to be local to EK (say, half hour's drive) and accessible. I don't have waterproofs and walking boots with me, so can't be anything that needs a major hike!

Am heading to Edinburgh to see family at the weekend and into Glasgow city centre on Wednesday. Am also going to take a trip to Kelvingrove and/or the Burrell Collection at some point.

Any other suggestions? Someone mentioned the wind farm. Is that worth a trek?

Greenbank Gardens, hidden away in the middle of Newton Mearnshttp://www.nts.org.uk/Property/28/

Mains Castle overlooking the boating pond just at Stewartfield Way (very North of EK), usually very busy.

Cathkin Braes, giving you the best view of Glasgow, a 180 from Paisley to Motherwell. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2561/4201930808_6011f87428_o.jpg

Holmwood House, designed by my favourite architect. I THINK it's opened for this season. http://www.nts.org.uk/Property/31/

Chatelherault Park, going the opposite way this time. From the east of EK it's about 25 minutes away. It's on my list of places to photograph. First of all the main Country House looks fantastic, then there's a walk through the park to some old viaducts which make great photographs.

There are loads of parks in the southside, each with it's own little attractions ; Linn park has it's waterfalls, Darnely Dams with the railway bridge over the reservoir, Pollok Park with the Burrel Collection, Rouken Glen with the large pond, Queens Park with it's great view and a building full of exotic animals (I think its called 'The Reptile House'), Bellahouston Park with the House for an Art Lover.

I'm sure theres more stuff to mention but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Thanks micehorns. Lots of ideas to be going on with! Thank you :)

To the op, in addition to the places already suggested a wander round East Kilbride's Calderglen Country Park and National Museum of Rural Life at Stewartfield are worth doing too.

Thanks FITP. I've not yet made it to the museum of rural life, but I've heard good things about it.

Went out to Whitelees yesterday and it was great! I think I might have a few good shots against the "atmospheric" sky! Didn't make it too far into the park as I had the baby and the pram with me too (and he wasn't happy in the wind and cold  ) but well worth a visit if you like bleak and unusual landscapes.

I second Rouken Glen Park in Giffnock and the Burrell Collection both are worth a look.

If you're into birds, the RSPB santuary at Lochwinnoch is less that an hour away. Strathclyde park may be worth a trip and the Clyde at night can be good for a few pics. Slightly further afield you have the Falkirk wheel and of course Loch Lomond.

Out the door, turn left. Or maybe right. Follow your nose.

Everywhere is a location ;)
