Morning all,
I've been into Web development for approximately 3 years now and I've decided (after much research) that what we don't have as a community is decent, opensource, photography website software.
Sure you can hack Wordpress to do what you want or you can pay for a website from a number of companies. But who want's to pay, and half the time you're buying a product and you're not entirely sure it can do everything you want.
So.
I'm starting a development project to build said software. Currently my brief is fairly loose:
Features:
1: What features/functionality would you like to see in a full photography-specific system like this?
2: Are there any people conversant in php, MySQL, Javascript, Ajax, HTML CSS, or any combination thereof who would like to contribute to the project? Ability (or lack thereof) isn't an issue, so if you're new to a language and want something to do to get your skills off the ground then PM me and we can talk.
Anyway, this is all in the concept stage atm, I'm still working through the basics of the system's operation on paper before I start writing anything.
As always, geneeral thoughts and ideas are appreciated!
Mike out.

Features:
- Photo upload/batch upload
- tagging, categories, labels
- import from .lrcat files (or another format of LR output)
- integration with Flickr/paypal/
- integration with printing services with published API's
- Themes
- Rights management & security
- Back-end management (think wordpress 'dashboard' style)
