Photojournalist Vest

Hi folks,

I have come across this photo vest, which looks ideal for the work that I do.

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with this company? It is based in America so I am a little concerned about the delivery time etc.

I think you'd be more like to see press photographers (which I assume were your plans for this) using a Think Tank or Lowepro belt and harness system, or the Newswear system that Jacob linked to. Or using something like a Think Tank Shapeshifter and flatten it off when the cameras are out on their shoulders.

I don't see many people wearing (self-edited) w*****r-vests who are in the business, the guys in the olympics had to wear theirs for the duration and then universally either archived them to the loft/shed/bin or eBay'd them - such is the loathing for them (see nick-name above).

Here's another product (also a bit more expensive) that might be of interest - it's designed for birdwatchers etc and I understand that Bill Oddie uses the same vest:

Personally, I use a Lowepro belt with pouches/toploader if I don't want a bag - but it's always handy to have large pockets to keep odds and sods like filters and batteries.

I was given a photographers vest many years ago. I've never worn it. Problem is the pockets are generally too small to put anything useful, like a lens ( and not a large one either.). OK they are fine for filters spare batteries memory cards, but not much else .

Not just Bill, I've got three of them. As well as a nice selection of pockets they have something that most photographer's vests seem to omit - a collar. When walking about with a strap around my neck I really don't want the strap rubbing against my neck.

You should not worry about delivery times and such, but you should be more worried about what if you get it, try it on, find it don't don't fit or don't suit your needs, you could end up with the troublesome task of trying to post it back to the seller for refund or exchange.
