I am using Photoshop CS5 and processing RAW files. I have a laptop with 4 GIG of RAM and have nothing running at the same time as Photoshop.

I have set photoshop to use the maximum amount of RAM and the same on bridge but still after processing around 5 files I get the message that photoshop does not have enough RAM to continue :shrug:

Its doing my head in :bang:

Any help would be appreciated :thumbs:
 
You running Windows 7 32bit or 64bit?
 
Hmm.. I've seen a couple of people with 32bit win7 have problems with PS. I'm running W7 64bit and not had any problems...
 
PS. Sorry, I can't be of more help but I would suspect the issue is with W7 32bit...

Yeah when I searched I also found others having the same problem. It seems to be a problem with photoshop rather than my computer :thumbsdown:
 
Yes, unfortunately it does appear to be a PS problem....
 
Anyone had an news on this problem? it looks like its a GL drawing issue it helps if you go to advance and set it to basic, if you still have issues turn it off and see if its clear the problem you can turn it back on after, works with out shutting down..

PS anyone else got it what video card have you got?

Being 32 bit, any program can only access 2GB of memory at a time.

However, I have noticed on my 64bit system with CS4, that the memory reserved for an open file is not being recovered by the OS when the files are being closed. Editing a 2GB file (my machine has 6GB physical), saving and closing (the file only), still leaves my machine with a significant amount of memory in use.
Closing CS4, recovers all of the memory.

No this is new to CS5 others have the same thing.... not a 32bit issue
 
Well all I can do is purge the memory in bridge and in photoshop and that helps until it happens again. Trouble is when you purge in bridge in then builds up all the thumbnails again and it takes time :thumbsdown:
