Ok finally ordered my iMac ( i5 27" ) and now need photoshop, I use Lightroom at the mo and a trial version of CS5 on mac and an ancient version of PS on windows, but if I wanna do it properly Im gonna need a proper version.
Trying to find a legal source for photoshop CS4/5 thats cheaper than the 600+ quid adobe want (I so wish I were a student). Anyone recommend anywhere or better yet upgrading and wants to sell theirs lol
I know people are gonna say i dont need photoshop but I have tried Elements and a few other programs and I cant get used to em. Not the best PS user but its still needed.

Sign up to an OU course and then buy it with your student discount?

We've just finished an evening course at college. It was £180 for the course but it meant you got the student discount.

The course easily pays for itself if you use the discount. Also, you get a "free" course out of it :) I'm picking up another course starting in September with a view to getting a student version of Windows 7, CS5 and LR3.

If you're enrolling with a college just for the Adobe discount be careful as the terms are restrictive (see below) - Microsoft T&Cs are a lot more relaxed.

ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS

Only full or part-time students enrolled at a higher education establishment, defined as an accredited public or private university or college that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time study, or students enrolled at an accredited public or private secondary school providing full-time instruction are eligible.

in the past I've bought very low-cost older versions of software off ebay and then upgraded then to the most recent, it can prove very cost-effective, you need to check which versions can be upgraded before buying to make sure you don't buy one that's too old.
