Hi folks, I am quite new to photography and got myself a copy of Photoshop 7.0 along with a useful book called Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Classroom in a Book from ebay. I have just acquired a Dell XPS 420 computer and have loaded my Photoshop 7.0 onto it, however, the pc came with Photoshop Elements 5.0 as part of the bundled software, I am therefore wondering, what is the difference between these programmes, do I need both, is one better than the other or, do they both have their individual merits and will each have their uses as I become more proficient (hopefully) at photography and editing. Many thanks in advance of any advice/guidance

Photoshop is the professional version of Elements BUT your version of Photoshop is about 6 versions old whilst the Elements is about 2 versions old so in reality they will probably be similar.

The main functions of Photoshop have not changed though.

Hi Chaz Photos, I am anticipating doing more RAW than anything I think. You can tell how new I am to this, can I ask you to explain ACR for me please. sorry to appear dumb!
For your info I am using a 50D camera.
