Hello, just wondered if anyone had used picasa, was planning on using it for an event next week.

Just installed it and its importing all the images from lightroom and iphoto and not able to delete them.

Also need to know how to set it so that when i plugin the camera in they are imported to a folder that is viewable in picasa.

Any help would be great, thanks

We use Picasa with Canon 5D`s, we use software from http://www.breezesys.com/DSLRRemotePro/index.htm which brings in the photos and then Picasa displays them.

Think it only works with Canon cameras though.

i have read that it can view a folder that a camera auto imports to, which is fine, what i dont want is it selecting all my photos on the mac, only has two options to start with to search whole computer or to just search iphoto and lightroom, i dont want either

Picasa only looks at the folders you tell it to, it doesn't hold any pictures itself.

I use it in work occasionally and you can tell it which folders to monitor from the menu in the tool bar. (can't say exactly where atm) And if you put any new pictures into the folders it monitors, it will update the folders.

Don't know about the auto import though.

If you edit any of the images on your hard drive in Picasa, it makes a back up of the original (in some, impossible to find, folder :bonk: )

yeah im aware of how it works, but i really want it as a standalone piece of kit, i dont want it cataloguing all my images i want it to use just one photo folder for it to look at.

Is there anyway to remove the imported photos/groups?

cheers

Not sure if there is when you first use it, but you can `Hide` folders, so presumably, allthough it`s a bit of a pain you could hide all the folders except the one you want, maybe.

Not sure there is a way to stop it once it's done.

You might want to uninstall, then reinstall. During the installation procedure it asks a question which directories to scan. Just point it at the directory you'll be putting all the photos.

just tiried it again and found that if you go to add a new folder, then you can hide all other photos,

so im sorted now.

thanks

Yep...

File -> Add Folder to Picasa -> set your hard drive to 'X' remove from Picasa and then just 'always watch' the one(s) you want.

You can right click on a folder in the folder view and 'remove from Picasa' too.
