Ok so I have read some reviews already and its not the nicest looking EVIL out there but damn does it pack a punch! Today, I bought the NEX-5K (18-55 OSS kit lens). Going to serve as a everyday body/combo and slowly move towards building up some nice Zeiss behind it.

So far, IQ has not been a let down at all! Nicely sharp overall and only seems to be a nit pick if you want to pixel peep so in that respect, very happy.

Spot metering, flexible AF points, thats me sorted!

staff edit: max 800 pixels please

And a quick video trying out a bit of MF to see if there was any issues with barrel noise

So far so good. Only gripe I have spotted, battery life seems a bit short. Maybe too much play time.

IQ looks good, how about the controls/interface though?

This suggests it's pretty frustrating.

I have read that reviews and it really depends on what you are used to.

It hardly had any buttons so everything is menu based so things like ISO, metering etc take some time but no more time then when you try to chimp on a sunny day.

I personally found within a few minutes, it was easy and didn't mind the menu based adjustments. I will have a full user review over the next few days.

i don't care what anyone says, that is one gorgeous camera!

swaying with the idea of a mini slr like this, so looking forward to review too :)
