What do you mean by strange?

Have you thought about upgrading to a pro acount to get the referral stats? - although this doesn't always work as some types of referral will come back as unknown.

Thanks for the reply.

Each one is being viewed daily, when most of my account is quiet. I already have a Pro account and it is saying source unkown. Which leads me to think they are being used somewhere.
I'm sure i'm doing the Tinyeye thing wrong.

I have tried a reverse search using Tinyeye but i think i'm doing it wrong.

I've just run it through TinEye as well, but the only result it returned was to your Flickr stream.

It's not a conclusive search though, so it may be out there somewhere.

Can you edit the photo on flickr so it shows something else instead? Serve them right if you changed it for a hairy bottom :D Alternatively just take it off and see whether they contact you.

I was thinking about writing a "not very nice message" across the image.:p

I found a Hotel in Scotland using one of my images and called them. They have said sorry and have said that it was used by on of the staff. They have offered me a free stay, which suits me as i'm going up there in January and at over £100 per person per night, i think that makes up for it.

Won't make a difference. Every time you edit or replace an image on flickr it gets a brand new url. So all that will happen is that if it's being hot-linked somewhere they'll just get an error message.

Sorry Mark! ... But I really don't see the problem? other than you don't know where the hits are coming from  Whoever is displaying the pics is linking to your Flickr, therefore you have the credit for the shot! ... That is the whole point of Flickr ... i.e. a 'photo sharing' web site  ... If you don't want to share the pics? why use Flickr?

Sorry, but I dont agree with this. Flickr is a 'photo sharing' web site, but not in the 'here help yourself way' - IMO its more like an art garllery, you're sharing you work with the world in a 'come and have a look way'

Regardless of whether or not people link back to a flickr page photo's shouldnt be used without the togs permission.

Just my 2p's worth anyway!

Regards

Neil

:agree:

All that means is that the "browser" (IE, FF, iPhone App, www.fluidr.com etc...) making the request for the image hasn't passed accross a referer URL (the page the link to yor photo was on).
This can be for many reasons, like the link being clicked on in an email, the "browser" being a site or application using the Flickr API etc...

It's also worth remembering that only visits to an images Flickr page is recorded in your stats. If you link directly to the JPEG (like we doin the [ IMG ] tags here) then those views of your images are not recoded in your stats.

But they've not nicked your photo. They're either clicking a link to your flickr account, or they're viewing it through a widget that your privacy settings are allowing. If you don't like the latter, change your settings. If you don't like the former, don't upload to flickr.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the way they are being (mis)used they are superb photos :-)
