This is quite clearly not a full review, but just thought I'd post my experience in case others were looking into one of these.

I thought I'd give one a go. It's not too much money and is a LOT cheaper than the genuine Nikon one.

It arrived today. Very nice box :)

Pity that was all that was nice about it :(

The joystick leaves much to be desired (the edges are sharp and it is clunky) and it kept hopping the focal point back to centre when pressing up.

I've returned it for a refund...

I have one and found it pretty good and solid. I just don't use a grip much, only got it for the price. No way I'd pay over the odds for a Nikon one, even if I used a grip all the time. Maybe you just got a bad copy?

Yeah, not sure I want to play the 'good copy' lottery ;)

I'd really hoped that I would be one of the lucky ones who could say that it was a great 3rd party grip :(

You could always buy the Meike grip or try your luck with that brand again and see if you luck out. I avoided the trial and error and got the Nikon one. Overpriced for what it is but so is most camera equipment from the OEM but I know it will work and I could maybe get back 70% of the price I paid.

Very happy with mine. No complaints. Excellent value for money in my opinion.
