Pixi Photo - not impressed.

Has anyone had any dealing with Pixi Photo?

A work colleague recently had some images of his newborn done in the local Mothercare, and having looked at the images, they are pretty awful.

I'm not sure sure whether I can post any for your views (Mods?), but they are way over saturated, poorly lit, head chopped off, and in many they have left the disposable nappy on (is this normal?).

He's paid a couple of hundred quid for these now (12 digital images on disc and a few small prints) and I have to say I'm amazed these people can get away with doing this sort of thing for what they charge.

Rant over.

He should upload them to their Facebook site and point out what he doesn't like.
Having bought the copyright with the disc, he can upload them where ever he wants so shouldn't be a problem here, although maybe just posting a link rather than the image.

I went to the Pixi Foto site (they have studios in Mothercare so I presume it's the company referred to) and could not find the T&Cs - but I'd be very surpised if they sell the copyright. I'd be less surprised if there is a licence for use.

If it was a mobile studio, it might be different as they're not the most transparent company to deal with. The permanent studios sell the copyright with the disc, but I've previously heard that mobile customers are treated differently - basically, they want to drive them into their perm studios.

thats known as 'artistic and edgily shot' in marketing speak - also you get what you pay for and a couple of hundred notes for 12 prints and a CD of shots is seriously cheap - thats under 20 quid per print.

When you consider that many of the gifted and talented studio shooters on here charge arround £85 for one 10x8, its clear that if you choose to shop at pound strectcher you can't expect harrods quality

Pixie are awful, they don't do photography, it's a factory line. Pop your kid here, have the same image taken as a million others have. Your kid cried? too bad, money, now! You like these 3? But only want one print? Oh well, pick one quickly so we can delete the other 2 as you watch.

Horrible. I've never heard anyone say a good word about them.

This is why I offer people an alternative in my area. I've had people come to me only weeks after wasting their money on pixie prints. They're always happy they did.

I'm in Ireland, they're more scattered here though they do hit the local shopping centres. They set up a basic mini studio, rush the kids through, crying or not, then hit the parents with print or delete options. Never seen anyone walk away from their booths happy.
