Looking for any info on places to visit in the south west, preferably in the north devon area.

I will be travelling from cardiff with a 3 month old baby so don't really want to travel too far. Looking for a location preferably coastal, small town / large village maybe, a few nice pubs and some easy walks as we'll have a buggy, and some interesting places we can travel to on day trips. Will likely be staying a week. Woolacombe looks good, but I have no experience of the area.

EDIT
Location preferably within a mile of a small town / large village.

Cheers all

Any tips for locations to use as a base in north devon?

Lynton and Lynmouth are always favorites in our house and you can get from one to the other fairly easily on the cliff railway, the 'beach' is pebbles though

Woolacoombe has a massive sandy beach as does Westward Ho!

A little bit further down the coast (just into Cornwall possibly) is Bude and from there you have various places within reach such as Port Issac, Boscastle, Tintagel, Clovelly (might need to use the landrover or a baby carrier here!).

We holiday regularly down there (with little ones), so happy to answer anymore specific questions you might have. This year (easter) we were really far down in Cornwall but the year before we stayed in a nice cottage on the edge of Abbotsham (very short drive from Westward Ho!). Abbotsham is small but has a lovely pub with good food, its also really close to Atlantic Village so you can get your food supplies from Asda or Bideford (for Tesco/Sainsbury).
