Hi all,
Please could I ask for some information on where I can get a clear plastic rain cover for a 450d that will cover a 70-300 lens?

Also any idea what type of lens hood is best a flower ( sorry for the description) or a standard type ? What's the difference ? Why have one over the other?

Hi Duncan

Here you go, lots to choose from - is really down to your budget / how much you want to spend...

Once you've decided which one, I would suggest looking around as WEX are not always the cheapest

Hi

The best lens hood is the one specifically made for the lens - the petal type is generally used for lowerer zoom lenses whose front element doesn't twist when focusing. The full / standard / cup hood are for longer telephoto lenses or where the front element moves.

Hope this helps...

Is your lens the Canon 70-300IS ?

If so you need the ET-65B lens hood.

You can buy a genuine or aftermarket one - I personally would go for a genuine one, but they can be slly priced for what they are. If you opt for the 3rd party route, then buy a decent one that is flock lined (like the genuine ones can be) or a matt finish inside, otherwise you can get reflections.

Thank you for your help the lens is a EF 70-300 1:4-5.6 IS USM ?

Sorry but as a newby it may as well. E in Russian:-)

Thank you all,:-) I'm off to part with some cash. Also looking to get a rain/ shower cover. I have seen ones that look ( may even be) a clear plastic bag. The ones on the sites seem to be under water housings.
I don't have that kind of cash and I don't think I need this kind of cover:-)
