Play in the focus ring/ Loose focus ring - Nikon Series E 50mm f/1.8 - Is it normal ?

Hi everyone,

I have just received a second-hand Nikon Lens Series E 50mm f/1.8 that I bought on ebay.

I noticed that there is some play on the focus ring... Is this normal, or is it caused by wear? The lens is 30 years old, according to the serial number it was made between March 79 and March 81...

I am trying to find out if the lens is defective, in this case I would send it back to the previous owner, or if it's normal due to its oldness.

Mine doesn't have play in it but it is a real good copy, if it was me I would send it back as there are plenty decent copies floating around im thinking of selling mine soon to buy an autofocus one if you're interested?
