Playback screen on 30d?

Hi there something that has been bugging me and just thought i would ask to see if they all do it.

When i playback my shots on the Canon 30d when in landscape view i get two grey bars, one above and one below my shot,,,,Is this normal.

It's normal. The aspect ratio of the sensor is 1.5 whilst the LCD has a 1.3333 aspect. If you didn't have the grey bars then you'd have to clip the width......remember the early days of Panavision/Cinemascope on the telly?
