I prefer the first one to the crop, but agree about the hand, so I'd clone it out rather than crop it.

Great shot all the same.

I like the first one, it tells the story. Losing the hand make it look like the ball is being launched from his head, possibly with his hair.

Her head... but as it's B&W and you can't see that the top's pink, I forgive you ;-) I kind of have the same feelings as Harmless towards the first one but as it's my daughters expression that makes this shot I think both work.
