Please help with camera function

Hi and apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.....I am very amatuer.

At a party recently a friend of a friend had a setting on his camera that allowed him to specirfy a delay eg. 1 min, 5 min, etc on which his camera would automatically take a photo.
Seemed like a real good way of capturing the events during a party if left all night in the corner to snap away.

Can anyone tell me what this function is called as I am looking to purchase a digital camera and would like this included.

why not just buy the same camera?


I personally would never leave my camera stood in a corner at a party, far too expensive and too easily damaged :shrug:

Its usualy called an intervalometer in camera functions. Not all cameras can do it, but some can. You can also buy remote controls that have them built in to allow it to be done.
