Please suggest me a camera strap

Can anyone suggest me a camera strap that can hook underneath the QR plate of RC2 Tripod head (check the second picture in the link). I am aware of the Black Rapids kind and whether these would be suitable for the purpose or is there anything better in the market?

The idea is to carry the camera with longer & heavier zoom lens hanging from the shoulders on the side instead of hanging onto the neck and also quickly unhook the strap so the camera can be mounted on a tripod if need be.

Many thanks in advance.

The black rapid works fine, I previously used one when I had the RC2 plates. Black rapid do a replacement screw that is designed to be used with black rapid type straps and rc2 plates. It's call the black rapid fastenR-T1 (link here). I wouldn't clip a black rapid strap (or any other strap for that matter) to the standard screw on the RC2 plate, it's not designed for weight bearing as it's only a piece of bend metal. It's likely it would break off dropping the camera and lend to the floor.

There are others like sunsniper and the Q strap (copy of the blackrapid). Any of those types of straps would work fine for what you want it to do. Many others use them for this purpose (or have previously). The only thing is you have to regularly check the screw is tight as there is the chance it could work free.

Thanks Rob for your insights and the link to the screw fastner. With the screw fastner inserted into the bottom of the camera where the tripod mounting plate usually rests, would it not defeat the purpose of quickly unhooking the strap and mounting the camera on the tripod? I am aware of Fusion Gear products that could solve this issue but these need to be bought from the US as I am not aware of any dealer stocking these in the UK :(

It's a replacement screw so you remove the bent metal from the RC2 plate and replace with the fastenR-T1- the RC2 plate is oalways on the camera or lens. I use this system with a Q-strap and it's fine but I really didn't want to hang body and 70-200 off the original bent metal screw.

Like Jim_Tod says it replaces the screw in the rc2 plate. You have to remove the existing screw from the RC2 plate and fit the fastenR-T1 in its place. It part you clip the strap to hinges and folds flat allowing the plate to be fitted to the tripod.

Thanks Jim/Rob

The new black rapid screw that Rob refers to replaces the existing screw fastner in the plate but it is a lot more secure ( the existing one will bend under load) so you use the QR plate as normal attached to the camera but with a different screw so the black rapid connector attaches to the QR plate in a more secure manner

Thank you all for your advice and helpful suggestions. I got this sorted and it's works great. Cheers

optech utility strap sling, with a 3/8ths connector and use strap lug, or find a plate where you can thread the strap through.

think I prefer strap lug location with short lens, then lens foot with a longer lens

Thanks pingu666. This could come handy for my second camera body. Cheers.
