I think one of the reasons we take photographs is to share it with others. We say "this is what I saw, look at what I saw" and hope that they see the same thing too.

Trouble is...they don't always see that. They don't recognize our perceptive genius. They don't see what we see and frankly never will see what we see. So we're wasting our time. Except, what gives us pleasure will always give us pleasure. So when we review our shots, days or weeks or months or years later and get pleasure from what we review - does it matter that others didn't see what we see? If we get pleasure from what we see, I don't think so. Pleasure from what we took is pleasure for us and us alone and that's all that matters in the end.

Oh how true !! I recently undertook a portrait shoot for a family member. I carefully edited and processed the 20 best images. She chose only one. However she chose 17 from my rejects.

in the eye of the beholder.

and therin lies one fundamental difference between shooting for you and shooting for your client.

If you are shooting for you then the gloves are off and you are free to explore as you wish and that can be a lot of fun.

Just goes to prove yet again that the picture only has to match the bad taste of the client eh..

I always let the Mrs go though the pictures now as well as she see's things differently from me and sometimes another point of view helps me out.
