Notice Plex server privacy issue

wow, that's rather naughty.

I do not use Plex, couldn't get it configured right and was not to keen on the interface so I'm pleased, not t hat I have any porn ;) .
I use Emby and it is brilliant, dead easy to set up on the NAS with its own server and the client runs great on the Shield in full fat 4K with atmos.

A new opt-out feature on Plex sends out a digest email to other users of that server detailing your viewing habits. This can include any adult material.
Story here.
Thanks for this. I've been using Plex for a long time and had no idea this was happening. After looking at the settings, it appears to only funnel that data to other users of the server. Is this something extra you have to set up to allow other people to stream from your server do you know? We've only got it set up to watch movies & TV Shows on the NAS on the smart TV downstairs and the iPads.

Not that anyone is going to be interested in all the junk we watch, but still, it's a bit of a cheek. I used to use Kodi, but when we got the new TV there was no app for it.

I use PLEX have done for a lot of years
whats the exact issue?

It's not a feature I've used either but as I understand it you can set up Plex to have other users access to your content and with that setup, those other users would receive an e-mail of the content you'd viewed and you'd receive an e-mail about theirs. Like you no-one is going to be bothered about what I watch on my Plex but I think it's a very bad decision to make an option like this the default with an opt out so I'll be surprised if they don't do a quick u-turn.

The problem is you have your Plex shared with other people then they'll receive an e-mail summarising what you've been watching. If you don't have your Plex set up that way it won't be an issue although as mentioned above, it's disappointing to see such a system implemented in Plex.

humm im struggling to find the setting in my web managament console

Ahhh found the settings turned it all to private

thanks chums
