PNY Memory Cards?

Chris,

I use a 4GB PNY CF card in the canon and have never had an issue, had it when I had the a700 as well.

Also use an 8Gb PNY USB drive that is now about 18 months old and no issues yet.

Just wondering if PNY are a reliable brand of memory cards?

They're OK, nothing special.

Never used them myself but general concensus is that they're fairly reliable but write speeds are slower than your Sandisks, Lexar etc etc.

I have a few 1gb cards I use in the studio with thousands of images written on them with never a problem.

I have only encountered problems with Lexar cards.

Cheers
BK

They're a good make, i have a 2gb USB mem stick for photo backup.
for serious fast shooting with a higher buffer speed i'd go for something like a Sandisk Extreme II or III if sports was your mantle in photography.

I use PNY and Sandisk 8 & 4GB cards (the SDHC ones) without problems...

Mind you, I always format the memory card after inserting it in the camera, e.g. after I've transferred the images to the PC then the card becomes a spare, sitting in my bag once again. It only takes a few seconds to do and is well worth it as there's nowt worse than spending time & effort shooting a load of photographs only to find that they've been lost due to file corruption :gag:

Sorry for the 'egg-sucking' lesson, I'm sure you're aware of doing this sort of thing as best-practice
