Polarising filter for 70-200mm

Polarisers are most useful for landscapes with wider lenses, mainly for darkening blue skies. They have their uses on longer lenses, like killing reflections on the windscreen in motorsport.

But that one doesn't look very promising. It doesn't appear to be coated, let alone multi-coated, and the RRP is irrelevant. It's not the right size for your lens either.
 
I'd vouch for B+W glass, and the filter size isn't much of an issue because you can use step up rings so your lens will fit the filter, but that can kill all prospects of using a lens hood.
 
I've got a Hoya Pro1 CPL and when it's on the lens then I don't use the hood. When I haven't got the filter on I always use the hood. It's the only filter I've got that's any good, but you wont find a new one for £20 or so.
 
You can get 77mm screw on hoods, so you don't have to choose 1 or the other.

Plus that was probably bought in the Jacobs liquidation auction where they sold for a few quid. Someone is trying to make a fast buck.
