Polarising Filter

Looking to buy a polarising filter and am just wondering which would be good to buy. I want something decent that will stand the test of time. What makes do others use. Was maybe thinking the Hoya Pro 1 circular polariser is there likely to be any colour cast with this, like there is with ND filters?
Also thought about Lee but not sure I can justify the cost at the moment. Although I am looking at their ND grad filters:thinking:. Will be using it for landscape, the odd rockpool and aquarium shots, although I have managed without to date sort of, a bit of reflection.

Any thoughts would be useful

Hi Mandy, I don't know what filter size you are after, but there is a 67mm Hoya Pro in the accessories forum which you won't go wrong with if it's the size you're after, I was tempted myself !!

Why 82mm if you're buying lee filters after!!!! The Lee one is 105mm and fits on the front! You can't put polariser on first as it turns!
 
Doesn't the Lee filter slot into the rear slot of the holder like standard Cokin P adaptors? You can then rotate the cpl independently of the other filters in the holder.

I have a Hitech polariser but have heard good things about the new Lee Landscape polariser, not cheap, though :)

Yeah, that looks exactly the same as the Cokin P style holder. Much better using the 'built in' cpl that trying to attach the holder to the front of a screw on cpl.
 
The 105mm Lee polariser screws onto the front of the Lee filter holder by an adapter which is sold separately. I find the new polariser warmer than the older one and as its slimmer doesn't vignette on my 16-35 lens,
 
Thanks for the replies. As much as I would like the lee polariser it is expensive and I realise you get what you pay for and I am seriously thinking of buying their nd grad filters and kit. Certainly wouldn't be buying all in one go. Likely to go for nd grads first and add the polariser later.
Posiview I have looked at the hitch and these are cheaper than Lee but appear harder to locate.

Wondering whether to take a chance on the Amazon Hoya pro 1 as a stop gap as considerably cheaper than wex . Need to read some more reviews first.
 
I've just ordered one from the USA - a company called breakthrough - it appears to be a very good filter although only available from the US at the moment. Comes with a 25 year guarantee against it falling apart. I've also ordered their ten stop as in tests it shows minimal colour cast. Won't get a chance to try them until March - but they certainly have some good reviews so far..
