Polarising filters?

I stupidly bought a cheap CPL filter from Amazon, and yes, it was rubbish!
Doesn't appear to make any difference whatsoever!
I have an old Hoya one from my old film SLR which is great (49mm alas!!), are they still a reputable brand?
I also notice they make what appears to be a standard one, a Pro one, and one that is described as a HRT one too!
Is the standard one good enough, or plumb for the PRO-1?

I use Kenko CPL and it does the job fine for me. If you going to buy the Kenko, go for the Hoya Pro.
