Hey all!
I need some advice.
My 40D keeps grinding to a halt and giving me a sign, something about 'lens contacts'
I can't find my manual.
Does this mean it needs to go off for a service or can I fix/clean it?
I had a little look and cleaned the contacts between body and lens - no luck.
If I send it in, should I send with lens?
Not sure exactly where the problem lies.

Hi Mate,
Yes I know the feeling well! Retry cleaning the contacts will a small amount of lens cleaning fluid [alcohol] and cleaning cloth. If that doesn't work try another lens if that works than its a lens probem. If the problem remains then its an internal problem and you need to find camerarepairaperson!

Would it be the 50mm 1.8 by chance, this gives me a little problem now and again. Had one worked fine on 400d, on the 40d no chance, other lenses including 70-300 EF no problem. Sent it off for repair under warranty, came back worked O.K, just the other day same issue, only this time it worked after a wipe with a cloth. There is no obvious candidate, lens works on other camera, camera works on other lenses, its like a comms or handshaking problem; like mine when I try it, they only stop if it works O.K.
