Yes
I may have just found a cheap option from Amazon .... Here

It has some good reviews.

I did spoil the cheapness a little bit by getting a 500gb hard drive and car charger .. :D

Even so, it still came to less than £120 all in. Could have saved about £10 by getting a smaller hard drive.

Only downside is not being able to view the shots on the screen. Plus point is that I have just saved myself a few hundred pounds on the more well known brands.

Will write a review on it once I get chance to test it.

I still use my Epson P-2000. Slower than I'd like but does a decent job,

I have a Flashtrax. It's a radio and video recorder too, so the manual says.

and me!

Seems they built those babies pretty well in the first place :)

That's on my shopping list Simon but I need a database, I want an 85mm f1.4 too. :)

Me too. Does anyone know when the Sigma will be in the shops? It was announced ages ago but still doesn't seem to be available.

I use a netbook. Plenty of HDD space for pics, has PSE2 for basic editting, wi-fi for web access if there's an available network, can plug the baby printer in to print edited images rather than just the card for straight from the camera ones. Contemplating taking an external HDD as well but that would be a bit overkill, although an extra level of backup is always a good idea.

Way back when I had a 40Gig Super DigiBin, it was fairly decent back then, realiable, cheap, but without a user-replaceable battery, so when it could no longer hold a charge, it got packed up in a box, and I've never seen it since, heh.

Now I just carry around 32Gig of CompactFlash cards (2x8Gig and 4x4Gig), and a 16Gig SDHC card. Plenty enough storage.

If I know I'm going to be getting close to filling that lot, I'll probably be away for a few days, so I'll have my laptop with me anyway, to backup and clear cards.

Similar to Nod, I got a laptop that fits in my camera bag. For the same reason, shed loads to GB space free, editing and internet if needed.

Not sure if I would take an external HDD, could always upgrade the one in the lappy :)

Photographs + Single source of storage = Eventual disaster + grief + tears + regret + anger.

Good point...the forums are full of horror stories relating to lost photos.

Personally I use the Netbook as backup...I always leave the originals on the memory card, they're so cheap now it's a good idea to have several if on a long trip

I've never had a Sandisk card crash on me or get corrupted in about 10 years of use.

If you don't buy cheap crap, and format in the camera at the beginning of each shoot, you'll have no problems.

Neither had a good friend of mine. Card worked perfectly. Never missed a beat. Would have staked his life on it. Except it got stolen along with the camera and the entire 2 weeks of holiday photos.

18GB on a single charge! That's not too impressive compared to my Colorspace.

True ... But I have also bought a car charger for it so can charge on the move. Plus I can get generic batteries for it so there really is no limit ...

And it cost about a quarter of the price of the colorspace I was looking at.

I have a Vaio TT notebook and I usually take a portable HDD along on a trip, plenty of SD cards so I keep my pictures on the cards till I get home and put them on DVDs. I sometimes carry some DVDs on a trip but not if flying abroad as weight is an issue.

Ok, but that was a failing of your friend, not of the card. :)
