Could anyone tell me how I could Build one, and what should I use in e.g bullet points

  • Portait
  • Landscape

Just need a few hints n tips as I`m attempting to build my first :)

No, They was supose to be bullet points, meaning what genres are there?

Im not presenting it to anyone, I just wanna slowly build one over the year.

Depends really on what you want to get into. If you want to build a business then you want to build a portfolio based on the areas that you'd like to work in.

However, architecture, sports, wildlife and still life.

I do a lot of my photo`s around, Macro, Wild life e.g birds, insects. Portrait & landscape

wow - 10 minutes before bumping and when posting in the wee hours!

your portfolio should be an example of your work, so put in it the genres that you shoot

keep your portfolio in the proportion you shoot - so if you do twice as much macro work as landscape put in twice as many macro shots

try and show variety within genres - don't just have close ups of flowers, try some bugs, still life, and some abstract macro - try to expand the portfolio by working on projects that you wouldn't normally do

Yeah thats what iv been doing, I was trying to get dragon flys yesterday, god there hard to get, Thanks for the advice, I was watching a video on youtube, and this guy had like a leather folder with his work in, so I think i`ll scout through what I have and go from there :)

Think of your master portfolio as a pool of your best work.

If you're asked to provide a portfolio you dip into your master portfolio and pull out the best selection relevant to the reason you've been asked to provide a portfolio.

It's a bit like you CV.. you've lots of stuff you could put into it, but you never use all of it at once and you'll never hand out a "standard" version of a CV because you know you need to fine tune it for every time it's asked for.
