Portfolio for Drama Work....

I have been recently asked to take some images of a young lady who is looking to develop her drama career and wants a portfolio she can send off for future castings etc...

I have some ideas of images to take but thought I would delve into this "pool of knowledge" to establish if others have done similiar work and what kind of images do casting types look for?

Obviously head and shoulder shots but would they prefer studio type shots rather than outdoor images? and if so hi-key or background cloth? black and white or colour?

I will take a full range of the above as the shoot is a birthday gift from her parents (they also want some family style images of her) but I would like to ensure that I capture images most of use for her developing drama work.

I look forward to any assistance on the above....

I don't actually know but I will give you a free bump and say that a black background would probably look best. Maybe a mix of shots some portraits, some varying action shots. Can you find other drama portfolios online and see what people generally use?

Thanks for the "bump" David, bit surprised that none of the other togs on here have any thoughts on this....perhaps I should have titled the thread "did you see that girls dress with the top cut off it at Focus yesterday"?? or asked for "365 poses for portfolio's" maybe would have generated more responses??

Hey Richard,

They tend to be head shots and in B + W, check out http://www.spotlight.com/ for a couple of examples - yes I know they're famous actors but trust me, even unknown's have a similar style! You can browse around a bit on the site for more examples too.

Hope that helps a bit!
