Hi guys,

i have a nikon d80 , what could you recommend for a good portrait lens, not looking to spend a bundle. i was thinking of the nikon 50mm f1.8 any ideas.

i already have a 18-135 stock lens and a 70-300 lens,

would prime be better than zoom?

any advice most welcome, thanks in advance , glen.

Hi Glen and welcome. In some ways it depends on how much room you have. I have the 50mm 1.8 and it is an excellent, sharp lens, great for portraits but in a normal sized room it can be a little difficult to fit everyone in. How much were you looking to spend? the Nikon 35mm f1.8 is very good lens for the price.
I often use a Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 as its pinsharp and gives a little more flexibility.
