Portrait with one flash head and Lastolite HiLite

Took this photo of my son using the Hilite and one flash head.
I like the result but putting away the Hilite after use is a pain sometimes.

I quite like it, but I don't think the pick background is doing him any favours,

I like the lighting, but concur re the background, makes the skin tones look too yellow. I also find the shot a tad tight

I was experimenting with some gels over the flash inside the hilite.
Could have chosen a different colour maybe but it all goes to experience.

Fab photo! Nice exposure, crappy pink. Lol! Seriously... as was said above, lose the gel, although it 'can be done', I've never really seen where it works really effectively. Having said that, fab photo.

For a coloured background try using a CTO gel on your main light and setting your camera WB for it. You'll get a lovely even blue background.
